A mid-century ashtray from Price & Kensington Potteries, featuring the distinctive ‘Andes’ design. The unique shape is complemented by a rich ochre, green, and brown glaze typical of the period. Stamped on the base with Price & Kensington Potteries and ‘Andes, Made in England’.
Price Brothers were originally established in 1896 in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, and were known for their quality earthenware. Renamed Price Bros (Burslem) Ltd in 1903, the company operated independently until 1934, when it was acquired by the Arthur Wood Group. Despite wartime consolidation between 1941 and 1945, the brand endured. In 1961, Price Brothers and Kensington Pottery merged to form Price & Kensington Potteries Ltd, and continued producing quality British ceramics.
